In the majestic Salle des Pas Perdus, for an evening, Meg brings back to life the popular that flourished during the Liberation of Cherbourg in towns and villages like Cherbourg, on July 14, 1944. The local re-enactors’ association, Cherbourg 44, will provide a strong presence alongside teams from La Cité de la Mer in period costume.

Saint-Martin-de-Varreville
Saint-Martin-de-Varreville celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Landing of the 2nd DB (Armored Division) of Marshal Leclerc.
Saint-Martin-de-Varreville, a city in La Manche county with its 211 habitants, made history for the first time on June 6, 1944, when American troops landed at Utah-Beach, then a second time on August 1, 1944, when troops of the Second Armored Division, led by General Leclerc, returned to French soil.
180 mayors, 180 flags, 180 young people from all over France and children symbolizing the 180 milestones along the route of the 2nd DB. Descendants of former members of the 2nd DB will bring photos and testimonials the epic story of the 2nd DB to share memories and at the Fondation Leclerc stand.
On the program: re-enactment camp, stores, mini jeep rides for children, period vehicles and horse-drawn carriages, concerts, film screenings, conferences, parades and ceremonies.
